What is Carolina Armageddon?

Carolina Armageddon is a LAN-Party (which stands for Local Area Network) event hosted by the Carolina Computer Gaming Association (CCGA). The purpose of Armageddon is to provide an environment where people with similar interests (i.e. Computer Hardware, Software, and GAMES!!!) get together on a regular basis and play multiplayer computer games. The best thing about a LAN-Party is the lack of  Lag (see below) that is experienced while playing.

lag3 (lg):

n. 1. the delay in transmission of data within a network or system network
     synonym: latency
v. tr. lagged, lag·ging, lags.

1. To have lag or latency

At Carolina Armageddon, we have a great time and play a bunch of games. There's nothing like fragging your opponent and getting to hear his/her actual screams of frustration from across the room. That's something you don't get while sitting in front of your computer at home...alone......using a 28.8K (ouch!) connection!

These games range from Unreal Tournament, Delta Force Land Warrior, Red Alert2, Tribes...checkers.....you get the idea. Basically, the CCGA setups up the Local Area Network and dedicated servers. Association members are then free to join hosted games or host other games that they want to play.

We simply share an interest of gaming, computer technology, and competition.

The Armageddon is open to anyone 17 yrs. or older. We can have younger members, but they must be accompanied by a parent. Ages vary, from 17 to 50.

Cost? Currently $20.00 if you pre-registered using Paypal or by contacting CCGA Info to arrange alternate payments. Please make payments (or arrangements) before 7:00 pm on the Friday before the lan party. After the cutoff time, the cost is $30.00 at the door. Also, no refunds will be made after the cutoff time.

Future plans? As the CCGA grows and acquires more LAN equipment, the plan is to host 36-48 hour events. These events will take place in a hotel, for size, safety, and sleeping accommodations.

Come join us. You'll have fun and......well....we need new targets!

Until Armageddon!
